The two houses locate in the Nishijin area where craftsmen used their homes for both working and living.
In such area, the south hutch comes with a spacious entrance area where its resident can use it as an atelier or working space for different projects.
The north hutch focuses more on the living room and kitchen area where its resident can invite friends over and transform the kitchen counter to a bar counter.
The working space paved in concrete floor is the unique point of the south residence. It can be used as an atelier to get creative or even as a shopfront when you feel like having people over. At the end of the day (tunnel), you can still relax in the living room or Tatami room on the 2nd floor with the the warmth of the timber.
This house locates in the Nishijin area on the north east side of Kitano Tenmangu. As this area used to produce one of the finest silk "Nishijinori" in Japan, the cityscape of this area is also somewhat nostalgic and reminisces the old days.
