Originally built in the Taisho era (architectural records from 1915), this Kyo-machiya was used as a barber shop until several years ago. Although the interior has been renovated to reflect the modern and Western culture, most of its exterior and appearance was left untouched.
The original features such as pillars, beams, and old furnitures were kept, and the kitchen and bathroom facilities were renovated to fit the modern lifestyle. Deep green tiles, a traditional Japanese color, can be found on the walls of the kitchen, washroom, and Tatami room on the 2nd floor.
