A Historic Building designated by Kyoto city,
where you can see the roof tiles all the way to Kodaiji.

This fully renovated Kyo-machiya is located in the eastern part of the Gion area, in the stone wall alley located in the block between Kodai-ji Temple and the approach to Yasaka Shrine. The unique townscape composed of cobblestones and stone walls was formed from the Meiji to Taisho era, and is currently selected as the "Saneizaka Traditional Buildings Preservation District".

This property, renovated in 2019, features a large bathroom that also serves as a living dining room on the first floor. From the Japanese-style room on the second floor, you can also see the roof tiles that leads to Kodai-ji Temple. The hideout inside the Ishibekoji alley is one of the unique spots in Kyoto.

floor plan

Although it was renovated as a lodging facility, you can reduce or increase the space with your own renovation. For example, if you want a space where you can have a family get together, you can turn the kitchen/entrance space into a living room with wooden flooring.

area

Here is where you can feel the rich history Kyoto has to offer. From the clicking sounds of the “Geta” (wooden Japanese slippers), narrow Kyoto alleys, convenience to famous shrines like Yasakajinja and the combination of local and fine dining in the neighboring areas, you will experience life in the heart of Kyoto.

Even in the lively Gion area full of tourists, entering the Ishibekoji alley is like another world. Especially from dusk to early morning, there is tranquility only in the back of this alley. Most sightseeing spots such as temples are on the east side of the property, but there are many supermarkets and restaurants on Higashioji Street. The best way to get to Kyoto Station is from the "Higashiyama Yasui" bus stop.
