Inaba Yakushi (Byodoin Temple) just north of the hotel is famous for cancer prevention. A flee market is also held in the daytime on the 8th of every month on the grounds of the Byodoin temple, and many unique Japanese goods are sold to the delight of foreign tourists. During the summer Gion Festival, the area around the hotel is filled with Gion music plus all food stalls are lined up in a row. The area around the hotel is transformed into a pedestrian only zone where visitors can experience the atmosphere of the festival at its best.
