A Two Storey House among the mountains combining residence and working space
map
Located in Yase, Sakyo Ward, this two storey wooden house is surrounded by beautiful nature at the foot of Mount Hiei, a district which is also known as the “Inner Parlor of Kyoto”.
The origin of the district name “Yase”, which can be also interpreted as “back healing” or “arrow wounded back” in Japanese, was said as the former Emperor Tenmu healed his back by steam bath here after getting arrow stroke in the Jinshin War during the Asuka Peroid.

Moving to the suburbs becomes a hot topic recently in Japan. Despite there was a strong image that people tend to move to the countryside after retirement to enjoy their second life, as working style becomes diversify these days, more younger generations consider country houses as another choice to match their need in change of life stages or to fulfill their ideal lifestyle.
Enjoying a laid-back lifestyle surrounded by nature might sound lovely, however it is also hard to neglect the fact of work, living and parenting matters.
Yase, not far away from the urban area but just one step in the wood, could be the best place for you to enjoy gardening and fishing with your beloved family and get away from the daily life during weekends.
A place where workspace and home can coexist
This two storey wooden property was built in 2015. Both first and second floors are designed with no partitions as a one room open space.
The concept of this open space designed house is to have a more spacious view inside, which also helps boosting communications between family members as you can always feel them around in this cozy place.
Stairs and plumbing facility are set at the middle of the house, also serve as the core area of this one room space. Except the toilet everything is non-fixed here, and you can separate living and working areas simply by curtains.
The bath area is assembled with water proofed floor tray and bathtub set on it, enshrouded by curtain to keep privacy from the open area when in use.
With this simple and stylish but multipurpose interior design, not only you can enjoy family life inside but the flexibility of this property making it a feasible choice for shops too.
