North of Jissoin Temple
Independent House in Iwakura

The name "Iwakura" has a long history and was said to be based on the ancient "Iwakura Faith" (a form of mountain worship). In the past, it was believed that the boulder in the current Yamazumi Shrine became the body of a deity and was called "Iwakura Shrine", which then become the origin of the name of this place.

You can feel the depths of history here as the Jissoin Temple and the former residence of Tomomi Iwakura (a nationally designated historic site) where Tomomi Iwakura, an influential statesman during the late-Bakumatsu and early-Meiji Period, spent his time during exile, are nearby.

Although it is not located right at the city center, the Kyoto bus "Iwakura Jissoin" stop is within a 5-minute walk distance and you can access the Shijo-Kawaramachi area with a single bus ride.
It takes you about 30 minutes to drive to the district with your own car.

An independent house built at the corner of a green residential area.
