Higashiyama Ward, an area retaining the vestiges of Kyoto that boasts a long history
A renovated detached house in a quiet residential area

Higashiyama Ward has a long history surrounded by Kyoto's signature attractions such as the World Heritage site Kiyomizu Temple, Yasaka Shrine, Chion-in Temple, and Sanjusangendo Temple.
In addition to shrines and temples, there are also many other national treasures and important cultural properties designated by the nation that attracts numerous local and foreign tourists throughout the four seasons.
This time, we would like to introduce a detached house that stands in a quiet residential area of Higashiyama-Shichijo, which is located a little south of the central tourist destination Kiyomizu area.

area

Higashiyama Ward, a unique cityscape in Kyoto

Higashiyama Ward, which is sandwiched between the Higashiyama Mountain Range and the Kamo River, is an all-time popular tourist spot where you can enjoy the scenery of the four seasons, dotted with shrines and temples that best represent Kyoto.
In addition, in the Gion area, which is known as a hanamachi, you can find teahouses and restaurants still retain the remnants of the city, and you can enjoy the cityscape full of Kyoto-like atmosphere here.

Kyoto National Museum

The property stands in a residential area just north of the "Kyoto National Museum", a little bit away from the downtown area.

The Western-style red-brick architecture "Kyoto National Museum" and the traditional Japanese-style architecture "Sanjusangendo Temple" with a bright vermilion corridor opposite the Shichijo St. are mixed. Such quaint scenery with the mixture of Japanese and Western-style is not very commonly seen in Kyoto.

Sanjusangendo Temple (approx. 7 min walk / 550m)

1001 Senju-Kannon statues lined up in an orderly manner are enshrined in the 120-meter long main hall, which is said to be the longest in Japan.
Kyoto National Museum (approx. 7 min walk / 500m)
A museum with a history of over 120 years. Approximately 13,000 items such as national treasures and cultural properties deposited from shrines and temples in Kyoto are stored.
Chishakuin Temple (approx. 5 min walk / 350m)
The headquarters of the Chisan School of the Shingon Sect of Buddhism. Best known for its panel paintings such as "Sakura-kaedezu" and its gardens. A hidden autumnal spot in Kyoto.

Area map of Higashiyama Shichijo

About 3 min. on foot to Kyoto City Bus "Higashiyama-Shichijo Stop", and about 11 min. on foot to Keihan mainline "Kiyomizu Gojo Station".
You can reach all parts of the city by bus and Osaka by Keihan train.
In addition, attractions such as Toyokuni Shrine (about 480m / 6 min walk), Sanjusangendo Temple (about 540m / 7 min walk), Kiyomizu Temple (about 1.1km / 14 min walk), etc. are within walking distance. An attractive area for second house use or operation of lodging facilities.

plan

A compact 2 storey house with essential elements that you need

On the 1st floor, there is a toilet, mini-kitchen, bathroom, living room, garden, and a compact service room.
Apart from storage, you may also make it into a workspace where you can concentrate on your work.
Taking a break from work, how about some coffee in the adjoining kitchenette, or enjoy breakfast or snack time there?

The 2nd floor has 2 consecutive Japanese-style tatami rooms.
You can use one as the main bedroom and the other as a living room where you can relax, or enlarge the area as a single room by removing the sliding doors in between.
