The southwestern part of Kyoto Station, where this Machiya is located, is not only close to Kyoto Station but also right next to the World Heritage Site "Toji Temple".
Founded by Kobo-Daishi Kukai, Toji Temple has a historical atmosphere and is said to retain the remains of Heiankyo. The large precincts where historic temple buildings are arranged from a long time ago are conveyed to the present.

On the 21st of every month, ”Kobo Market" is held in Toji Temple. Known as one of the best antique markets in Kyoto, it is fun to just look at the antique kimonos and antique shops. The landmark five-storied pagoda is the tallest wooden tower in Japan and can be viewed from the south window of the Shinkansen, greets Kyoto visitors with a deep history and culture.

The southern area of Kyoto Station is undergoing redevelopment with both conveniences and the quaint Kyoto-like scenery.
