The main house, which is facing Inokuma St., is an individually designated Kyomachiya under the Kyoto City Ordinance on the Preservation and Succession of Kyomachiya.
Although the interior is deteriorated due to its age and repairs are needed before it can be used, a well-preserved "Juntosanpeki" above the Toriniwa earthen floor aisle still remains.
"Juntosanpek", in which large crisscrossing beams are built over the roof, was a showcase for carpenters' skills and a place to display the status of a large merchant house. It is a structure that was said popularly found in Kyomachiyas during the Meiji period.
