Roof Tile
There are two types of kawara roof tiles. One is the straight-line roof tiles, known as “ichimonji gawara.” The other called “manjū (steamed bun) gawara” has rounded edges at the point where the tiles overlap. The thickness of the ichimonji gawara was deemed an indicator of the wealth of the household.
