Feature建物の特徴
POINT.1Machiya atmosphere
With a hipped roof, plastered walls, and latticed windows, the exterior of the house preserves the atmosphere of the time when the house was built.
The Omotenoma (front room), with its Tokonoma alcove made of Karakami paper, is located just inside the entrance. The Tatami-matted room, with its Machiya-like atmosphere, could be used as a small space for entertaining guests.
Crossing the Nureen porch is a detached Tatami room at the back of the building, with a view of the garden with camellia trees planted against the backdrop of a black wall made of burnt cedar. The room is also equipped with an Irori sunken hearth, which can be used to enjoy cultural pursuits such as the tea ceremony or holding a tea party.
POINT.2Modern usability
The spacious living-dining-kitchen comes with a counter kitchen. From the kitchen, the floor plan has an easy flow line to the laundry and washroom.
The living-dining room with cypress wood flooring and Karakami wallpaper is a modern interpretation of the Japanese-style interior.
The two Western-style rooms on the 2nd floor have sloped ceilings. A walk-in closet with plenty of storage space and a loft that could be used to store seasonal items have been created.

Location周辺案内

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine with a plum garden and antique market,
and Hirano Shrine famous for its cherry blossoms, are within walking distance.
Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is known for its Ume plum blossoms, which bloom from February to March. In spring, the cherry blossoms of Hirano Shrine catch the eyes of its visitors. There are also many other spots nearby where you can enjoy flowers in every season.
Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is bustling with the monthly antique market named "Tenjin-san". Perhaps because of the connection to the antique market, there are many small galleries and antique stores in the area. In the area of Kamishichiken, Kyoto's oldest Hanamachi Geisha district, there are also famous stores patronized by Geisha and Maiko.

4-min. from north gate of
Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.
A renovated Machiya in
the Murasakino-Kashiwano area.
Located a 4-minute walk (approx. 320m) from the North Gate of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, which is bustling with people every month during the Tenjin Market, we are pleased to introduce a renovated Machiya in the Murasino-Kashiwano area, where many Machiyas still remain.
The spacious living-dining-kitchen and the sanitary area with a sense of flow are modern and user-friendly; while the Omotenoma and the detached Tatami room with a view of the Tsuboniwa garden have been refurbished to retain the Machiya-like atmosphere. Camellias, which bloom prettily even in the cold winter months, add color to the garden viewed from the living room and the detached room.
Renovated in 2014 by Hachise, the rooms are carefully used and can be lived in as is. How about living in a Kyomachiya where you can feel the change of the seasons from the camellia-lined garden?
