The base of Higashiyama is a relaxed, quiet area blessed with a magnificent natural setting.
It offers a number of excellent walking routes including the Keage Incline, Mt. Daimon-ji, as well as the Philosopher’s Path. With numerous historic temples and shrines as well as gardens, the Ginkaku-ji vicinity is dotted with beautiful spots to be enjoyed throughout the four seasons.
