What is the "TANOJI" area?「田の字」地区とは

The "Tanoji" district refers to the area bounded by Oike Street to the north, Kawaramachi Street to the east, Gojo Street to the south, and Horikawa Street to the west. Its name originates from the resemblance to the kanji character "田" (Ta), created by the grid pattern of these surrounding streets, along with Shijo Street running east to west and Karasuma Street running north to south through the center of the district.
