Introducing an unrenovated house located to the east of Genbu Shrine in Murasakino, Kita Ward.
This house is conveniently situated just a 3-minute walk from the 3rd bus stop, "Horikawa-Kuramaguchi", departing from the Kitaoji Bus Terminal.
While the nearest train station is Kuramaguchi Station, the house's appeal lies in its accessibility to destinations such as Kitaoji Station and Kamo River via bicycle.

plan

renovation plan
We have created a renovation plan and image illustrations that infuse a sense of nostalgia with a touch of modernity, making this home feel like a cozy cafe where you can't help but linger.
Our vision is to enhance your everyday life and hobbies, stimulating your imagination.
Inspired by the ambiance of Murasakino and the nearby Sei Shonagon's Grave, this renovation plan is designed with literature and music enthusiasts in mind. We've transformed the initial 4.5 mats Tatami room right by the entrance into a salon-like space, envisioning it as a gathering place for your friends to form new connections and enjoy each other's company.
※Murasakino: Named after Murasaki Shikibu, a renowned Japanese author famous for "The Tale of Genji", a classic in Japanese literature. The area gets its name from the presence of Murasaki Shikibu's grave. (*Note: There are different opinions on the origin of the name.)
Facade
For the exterior, we've opted for a grayish paint finish, complemented by wooden fixtures and charming retro outdoor lamps above the entrance. This gives the house a "retro-modern" aesthetic, preserving the nostalgia while considering modern living comfort. We've aimed for a warm and inviting appearance that makes you feel like you've stepped into a quaint cafe.

1F Salon
The space next to the entrance is designed as an area where you can invite friends over. The north-facing window will be expanded in height to allow direct access to the terrace, creating an incredibly open and inviting atmosphere. Additionally, by removing the sliding door that separates the dining area, a more integrated space that can accommodate small gatherings or parties can be created.

2F Study (6-mat Tatami Room)
While preserving the existing layout and fixtures, we've focused on creating a comfortable space while keeping interior costs manageable. The room on the north side, offering a view of the trees from the neighboring apartment complex, can serve as a study or a home office for your writing endeavors. It's a space designed for relaxation and work.

On the 1F, we aimed to relocate the toilet to the interior and create a garden on the south side. By shortening the 2F balcony, more sunlight can be streamed in, which helps transform the bathroom into a bright and scenic oasis.
The 2F offers excellent ventilation and an airy atmosphere, making it a delightful place to unwind. You can enjoy coffee by the Kamo River during work breaks.
